Settings, lock and privacy
Open Settings with ⌘,. Settings are stored on your Mac, with the rest of your data, and are never synced anywhere.
General
| Setting | What it does |

| Your name | Signs your follow-up emails. Filled in from your macOS account the first time. |
| Appearance | Light, Dark or Auto (follows macOS). Auto is the default. |
| Language | System language, English or Français. CadenceOne needs a relaunch to switch: choose Relaunch now, or Later. |
| Default cadence for new team members | Weekly, 2 wks or Monthly. Weekly is the default. You can still change it per person. |
| The week starts on | Monday (the default) or Sunday. |
| Launch at login | Opens CadenceOne when you log in to your Mac. |
| Badge on the Dock icon | Shows the number of overdue promises on the app icon. On by default. |
| Licence | Your trial or purchase status. See Trial and purchase. |
Privacy
| Setting | What it does |

| Local storage only | Always on. Your data stays in the app's container on this Mac. |
| Lock the app when idle | Hides CadenceOne behind a lock screen. Off by default. |
| Lock delay | How long before the app locks, from 0 to 60 minutes. 5 minutes by default. |
| Hide details in notifications | On by default: reminders give the time only, never a name. Turn it off to include the person's first name. Topics and notes are never shown. |
How the lock works
When Lock the app when idle is on, CadenceOne locks:
- when it launches,
- when you have not touched your Mac for the lock delay while CadenceOne is open,
- when you come back to CadenceOne after being away from it for longer than the lock delay,
- at any time with Lock now in the File menu (⌃⌘L).
The lock screen hides your team members, meetings and notes. Click Unlock and confirm with Touch ID or your Mac password.
The lock keeps prying eyes off an open screen. It does not encrypt your data: for that, rely on FileVault and your macOS account password.
Emails

| CC myself | Adds your address in CC of every follow-up email. Needs your email address. |
| Always include the promise list | Lists completed promises in follow-up emails, whatever the template. |
Follow-up emails always open as drafts in your mail app. See Follow-up email.
Data
- Storage location shows where your data file lives. Show in Finder reveals it.
- Export all data saves a full backup file. See Backup and export.
- Restore from a backup… opens the Backup window.
- Erase everything deletes all team members, meetings, notes and promises, after a confirmation.
Erase everything also deletes the templates you created. Built-in templates and your settings are kept. It cannot be undone: export your data first.
