CadenceOne Documentation
CadenceOne is a Mac app for managers who hold regular 1-to-1s with the people on their team. It helps you with the three moments of every 1-to-1:
- Before: prepare in a minute, with everything left open from last time already on screen.
- During: run the conversation from a focused meeting mode, tick the agenda off, and capture decisions, promises and wins as they happen.
- After: send a clean follow-up email, and keep track of who owes what until the next meeting.
Everything stays on your Mac. There is no account to create, no cloud, and no recording.
Getting started in five minutes
- Enter your name. Open Settings (⌘,) and fill in Your name. It signs your follow-up emails. Today reminds you until it is set.
- Add your team. Press ⇧⌘N or click Add your first team member in the sidebar. A first name is enough to start; add a work email if you want to send follow-ups. See Team members.
- Prepare your next 1-to-1. Click Start a 1-to-1 in the toolbar and pick a person. Set the date, add a few topics or a template, then click Schedule + reminder. See Preparing a 1-to-1.
- Run it. When the meeting starts, open the preparation again and click Start the meeting. See Meeting mode.
- Follow up. Click Finish, check the email preview, and open it in your mail app. See Follow-up email.
After that, Today and This week tell you who to meet, what is overdue, and which meetings still need preparing.
The one rule: private or shareable
Every piece of content in CadenceOne is either private or shareable, and the app treats that difference as a hard line.
- Private content is for you only: private notes, private topics, the mood of a meeting, development goals and achievements. It is never put in a follow-up email, never included in a Markdown, PDF or JSON export for a team member, and never shown in a notification.
- Shareable content is what the other person may read: shareable notes, covered shareable topics, decisions, promises and wins. Only this half builds the follow-up email and the per-person exports.
The one exception is the full backup file, which exists to restore your data and therefore contains everything, private notes included. Store it somewhere safe. See Backup, export and restore.
What your team sees
Nothing, unless you send it. The people you manage get no account, no invitation and no notification. A follow-up email opens as a draft in your own mail app, and you decide whether to send it.
Requirements
- macOS 15 Sequoia or later, on Apple silicon or Intel.
- The app is available in English and French.
- Rewrite with AI in the follow-up email needs macOS 26 or later with Apple Intelligence turned on. Everything else works without it.
